Answers To Frequently Asked Questions

What is an E-Bike?

E-bikes are classified as a bicycle. They have a small motor that assists the rider's pedal-power. This differs from the moped, scooter, or motorcycle. E-bikes have rechargeable batteries, are lighter and follow electric bicycle laws and also conform to a top speed limit of Kilometres per hour on electric power alone.

Do you sell these ebikes?

We have a referral agreement with our ebike manufacturer where you receive a $50-Off coupon.  Call for 905-651-1951 for details.

Do you rent regular bikes?

No.  We offer an Experience. The Niagara Escarpment has a 200 foot difference between the upper and lower peninsula and a traditional bike would be too much effort for most people.

Are there paved trails to ride?

Yes.  The Niagara River Recreational Trail is one of the nicest trails in the world.  It is 56 km long from Fort George to Fort Erie. It is historic and stunning in beauty. On this trail, we ask that you do not use the thumb throttle.

Do you offer ebike pickup & drop-off?

No.  You must come to our shop to be properly fitted for the ebike and helmet.

Are there charging stations along the route?

No.  Our ebikes are charged to exacting standards.  You cannot charge the ebikes.

Can I take a spare battery with me?

No. We offer battery delivery-to-you for $50 and $25 for each additional battery that your group requires.

Does pedaling recharge the battery?

No.

Can I take a charger with me to charge on the go?

No. These are high-level batteries that need to be charged to exact standards.

How far can I go on a battery?

All our ebikes have a fully charged battery and are ready to go.

Based on a weight of 170 lbs the distance is 30+ km with no pedaling (only thumb throttle), 60+ KM with light pedaling (pedal assist level 2 or 3) and 80+ KM with normal pedaling (pedal assist level 1).

Battery range depends on weight, riding conditions (wind, hills, bumps), distance and the number of times you stop and go.

Can more that one person ride on the bike?

No.

Can I tow a child or dog carrier to the back?

No.

Can someone under 16 years old ride the ebike?

No. By law you must be at least 16.

Can I ride an ebike, if I haven't ridden a bike in years?

Yes, anything is possible, but we recommend you train for your outing.  Snap E Bike is a place to learn to ebike, not bike.

Can I keep these overnight?

No.  The ebikes must be returned by 7:30 PM daily, or 30 minutes before sunset, whichever is earlier.

Do the bikes have a phone mount?

No because we require riders looking at the road at all times.

Can I ride in the rain?  Yes.
